SLOW FOOD WINE GUIDE comes to America by Philip S. Kampe

SLOW FOOD, the English Guide to Italian SLOW FOOD WINES will debut in America on January 30th in New York and February 2nd in Chicago.

The SLOW FOOD GUIDE, published by CHELSEA GREEN (US), adopts a new approach to wine criticism and looks at a variety of factors to evaluate wineries in their entirety, taking into consideration the Wine Quality, Typicity, and adherence to Terroir, Value for money, Environmental sensitivity and Ecological Sustainable Viticultural practices.

SLOW WINE was conceived to give a realistic snapshot of the current Italian landscape. The guide features 400 different wines, each visited by SLOW FOOD experts.

Symbols are used in the guide to evaluate each winery.

The SNAIL, the SLOW FOOD symbol, signals a wine cellar that has distinguished itself through its interpretation of sensorial, territorial, environmental and personal values with the SLOW FOOD philosophy.

The BOTTLE, allocated to cellars that show a consistently high quality throughout their range of wines.

The COIN, an indicator of great value.

MARCO BOLASCO, CEO of SLOW FOOD comments on the changes in 2012: " With SLOW FOOD we have changed the way we review wine. We want to go beyond and create new ways of discussing and exchanging ideas and projects between authors, producers, food communities, readers and SLOW FOOD members. This is the natural course for a publishing house that wants to keep listening to the world, in order for us to deepen our knowledge and keep our ears and eyes open".

Join SLOW FOODNYC on Monday, January 30th at the METROPOLITAN PAVILION, 125 West 18th Street, to preview this innovative guide while sampling over 140 different wines. Sixty producers will be on hand to discuss their wines.
Tickets for the event include a copy of the SLOW FOOD GUIDE and a wine glass to mark this occasion.
Light food pairings will be served.

Tickets are reasonable at $40 and can be purchased online at: www.slowwineguidenyc.eventbrite.com
